Black & White | Cloudy Days | South Wales Family Photography
Black and White Photography.
We live in the UK. The weather is a bit..well meh. It’s stunning when it’s good but summer comes and goes so quickly and to quote Wikipedia “The UK is cool and often cloudy, and high temperatures are infrequent.”
Where does that leave us when it comes to family shoots? As long as it’s not raining cats and dogs, it’s going to be just fine. (No pun intended).
Cloudy days are the best for flattering the skin, (who doesn’t want that), they look outstanding in black and white, and selfishly I’m always secretly happy when it’s cloudy as it makes my life easier :). The blazing sun strikes fear into every photographer the world over.
Black and white photos have a special place in our hearts; they’re timeless, make older people look wise, hide questionable trends in colour and love a cloudy day.
Cloudy Days.
You wake up on the morning of your shoot, pull back the curtain and let out a big sigh. It’s overcast. Don’t worry! Its better than no clouds at all. Plus I make it work for you, you’re in safe hands, I’ve got bags of experience of working in less than perfect weather – the same could be said for any photographer working in South Wales.
And besides – you receive all your photos in colour AND black and white so you can decide what works for you.
This photoshoot.
The photos below are from the cloudiest of cloudy days; it was cold too. But look at them, happy as can be. Kirsty and Andrew got it, what a photoshoot can and should be, they said balls the camera and gave their little ones a great time at the beach. All I had to do was get it all on camera. They make me feel warm looking at them even though it was cold as.
The Takeaway.
Don’t worry about the weather, you’re in safe hands.
