WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD ON OUR SHOOT DAY?

It’s the UK

It’s something that happens occasionally and it's not a problem. We simply reschedule for another day. If another day can’t be found then you get your session fee back.

If it's overcast don't worry. You can read about overcast days here

WILL WE HAVE TO POSE?

the Simple answer is no

One of the best parts about the shoot for many people is that I never ask you to look at the camera and smile.

I take one traditional photo right at the beginning of your shoot. This is a “safe” shot and it’s entirely optional.

I do it because it appeals to Granny and It’s over in a matter of seconds.

IF WE DON'T HAVE TO POSE THEN WHAT DO WE DO?

DO YOU PROVIDE DIRECTION?

Be yourselves!

That's what you want captured and that's what I want to capture too.

A good way to get a feel for how your shoot will be is to simply imagine playing with your children and showing them a good time.

"The shoot was simply playing with our children on the beach and having fun as a family. Dan captures those precious, natural moments that we often tend to take for granted."

Sarah Bowen

I will suggest stuff occasionally, shoulder rides, piggy backs, sit down time.. that kind of thing. But I won't be asking you to look at the camera and smile.

Honestly though, don't worry about how you look on camera. I know how to shoot to flatter you and show you at your best. I simply delete anything that doesn't pass the test.

WHEN AND WHERE DO YOU SHOOT?

Swansea, cardiff and across south wales

Mostly between Cardiff and Swansea but I'm totally open to shooting further afield. You can choose to have your shoot in the forest, in a field, at the beach, at home, just about anywhere.

I love to explore and I'm always up for an adventure, so if you really want to push the boat out, just ask.

When?

On your beach shoot it's usually when the tide is out. The most beautiful time is that hour after sunrise or before sunset. Aka the golden hour. Whether that is practical for you really depends on the time of year, evening golden hour in the height of summer can be as late as 9pm or as early as 4pm in the winter. But ultimately we work together to find a time that works for you.

The one time I don't shoot is during harsh midday summer sun.

I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA

WHY WILL THIS SHOOT BE ANY DIFFERENT?

My method makes it easy for camera shy families to be at ease. It works for them and it'll work for you too.

"I was most nervous about having a camera in my face as I hate having my picture taken and typically don't like any pictures of me. Dan is so good at putting you at ease that he would be snapping away whether we were in deep conversation with him or just running around with the kids and honestly just didn't notice it. We all carried on as usual and really enjoyed our day out."

Georgina Challingsworth Dixon

"I enjoyed the whole shoot despite not being natural in front of the camera. Dan's style of photography and a friendly, relaxed and warm manner made everything so natural, not forced. He instantly made me feel at ease, so to me, it was just quality time to enjoy with my children."

Maria Starkie

I'M WORRIED THAT MY CHILDREN WILL MISBEHAVE

Kids are kids

Children can't be expected to act like we do. I embrace the chaos so please don't worry about it.

If your little ones are digging their heels in or hiding from the camera (happens occasionally) then we just roll with it. You want a gallery full of smiles and laughter, and the best way capture all those is by giving them heaps of attention and showing love and affection.

"I was worried about this, luckily they did, but it was definitely down to the way Dan made us feel and how he let us just get on with it which made them feel like they were not being photographed."

Jo Williams-Jones

"As a parent, my biggest concern was how my children would react to the situation, a family photo shoot. I did not know how the children would behave. Dan engaged very well with my children, and we didn't notice the camera as we were having such a fun day playing on the beach. It was so relaxed we enjoyed every minute of it."

Sarah Bowen

WHAT ARE YOU LIKE TO WORK WITH?

I’m not a pushy photographer

It's high fives all round and I make friends with your little ones straight away.

If they run, I run. If they jump in the sea, I'm in there to.

"The whole shoot was so relaxed - really made it easy with the children. Dan took so many natural shots that half the time we didn't even know he was taking photographs. He captures what you would want out of a family shoot perfectly."

Kirtsy Meech

I use totally silent cameras, when you don’t hear the clicking you totally forget that photos are being taken leaving you free to show your little ones a great time. I'll capture all their fun and excitement on camera.

HOW MANY PHOTOS CAN WE EXPECT?

60+ TO CHOOSE FROM

I shoot your family session with variety and authenticity in mind. Smiles, love and character are all in. Anything boring and unflattering is out.

I work hard for my families. And I take A LOT of photos, you won't notice this. It gives me lots to choose from to give you pictures that you'd be happy to hang on the wall and share everywhere.

But really at its essence, it's about capturing this moment in time. Preserving memories for you of the way they are right now and showing in pictures a beautiful time of life.

You'll always be a mum but you won't always be a mum to a toddler, a 3 or 4 year old and a lot changes very quickly when it comes to children.

If you've had a photo shoot before that was a little too posed or old fashioned and like what you see here then please get in touch. I love to photograph adventurous, warm hearted families who get it and who are ready to discover something different.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SHOOT?

WHEN DO WE GET TO SEE OUR PHOTOS?

I'm as excited as you to see your photos. But the first thing I do is back them up so they're safe.

Then I select only the very best from the shoot.

I then hand edit every one to a high standard like you see here.

Then it's time to create your slideshow. Your slideshow is often an emotional experience for you every time you watch it.

Confession time. I work on these until they make me emotional. Which is a good indicator I'm on the right track.

Then I upload to your private online gallery two versions of each of your photos, one colour and one black and white.

Then it's over to you.

I do all the above within in two weeks of your shoot.

Once your gallery is delivered to you it is open for 7 days to allow you to select your package.
